| About : |
Having worked within all the major disciplines associated with graphic design and illustrating I offer training and tuition for those seeking either to take their first steps in these career directions or for those wishing to improve upon knowledge already gained.
Software used will include Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash.
The courses are designed to move the student logically through to a conclusion that will enable them to employ good rules of practice and a confidence that will allow the software to be used to good effect. Subjects will include: Design for print, Design for the web, Animation, Image manipulation, Preparing for print, Building a web site and loading a web site.
Sub headings for the above will include: Understanding a brief, Designing Layouts, Using Grids, Typography and handling type, colour theory both for print and the web, building simple and more complex animations, web site navigation and dynamics.
The course structure can be bespoke to an individual’s needs or can follow an established pattern, depending on your requirements.
Class sizes can vary form 1 to a maximum of 10 and can either be on site or by special arrangement at a hired venue.
The “Learn it all in two days” approach is not one that I subscribe to as an individual rarely comes away from such courses with any real knowledge or confidence to perform to a satisfactory standard, generally resulting in frustration and increased pressure.
I am a university lecturer teaching to BA Hons. and MA level in the following subjects: Intro to Print, Internet Communication, Image Media, Intro to Web Design, Publishing and Creative Publishing, and have a proven ability in delivering results to an established level. Please contact me for a more in-depth discussion on how I may help you to achieve your goals.
